[W] “Limited Broadband” Speed Test

last 3 weeks, eDoTz complained to me bout the Maxis Broadband connection problem. masalah line tak stabil yg menyebabkan frequent disconnection ni dah bermula sejak awal bulan Januari aritu.. cume 3 minggu lepas, masalah makin serius bila langsung tak dapat connection.

sepanjang minggu pada 3 minggu lps, modem USB Huawei E220 yg biasanya menggunakan protokol HSDPA, hanya boleh menggunakan EDGE utk connect ke internet.. slow giler (rujuk graf utk perbandingan).. so aku pinjam jap modem tu, bawa ke opis utk test – no problem at all. aku suspect, mesti la something wrong ngan Access Point @ servis maxis kat area Balakong Jaya tu.

setelah 1 minggu cube mencari solution (yg tak menjadi):

• update firmware modem yg terbaru jadi 7.2Mbps (walaupun max bole dapat 3.6Mbps je sbnonye)
• update mobile connect (software yg dtg skali ngan modem tu)

& mengutuk2 maxis di forum lowyat.net, akhirnya 1 malam tibe2 eDoTz kate die dah bole connect mcm biase..

apa yg aku perasan, setakat ni, takde lagi problem frequent disconnection mcm sebelum ni. speed pun terasa laju.. lps buat speed test, ni la resultnye:

memang lagi stabil & laju dari sebelum sebelum ni. tak kisah la sebab maxis dah repair something ke.. upgrade hardware diorg ke.. yg penting, RM138 yg aku bayo tiap2 bulan tu tak la rase terbazir mcm tu je. mahal tu~ harap2 servis maxis, kalau tak better pun, at least maintain mcm sekarang ni.

perancangan akan datang, sementara menunggu P1 W1MAX yg entah bile nk cover area Balakong tu, mungkin aku akan bertukar kepada pakej Maxis 3G plak, lebih murah (RM99 sebulan) tapi kene beli modem sendiri @ gune handset yg ade 3G @ 3.5G. yg ini memang betul unlimited (takde 3GB/month limit). orang kate servisnya a lot better from Maxis BB, orang la kate… betul ke tak, kena la try sendiri, kat area sendiri…

Update (June 24, 2009): baru perasan, pakej Maxis 3G (now known as Advanced Lite) dah semakin murah, RM78/month. tapi usage dah dilimitkan 2GB/month! cess… servis yg semakin mundur.. 2 thumbs down for maxis!!!

Siapa yg layak?

1. Sihat pada hari menderma
2. Berumur 18-60 tahun
3. Berat badan melebihi 45 KG
4. Tidur melebihi 5 jam pada malam sebelum menderma
5. Tiada masalah perubatan
6. Tidak mengambil sebarang ubat (seperti antibiotik)
7. Telah mengambil sedikit makanan sebelum menderma
8. Pendermaan terakhir > 3 bulan

Siapa yg dilarang?

1. Mengamalkan hubungan homosexual (sesama jantina)
2. Mengamalkan hubungan bisexual ( kedua-dua jantina)
3. Mengamalkan hubungan jenis dengan banyak pasangan atau pekerja seks komersil
4. Mengamalkan penyalahgunaan dadah secara suntikan
5. Pasangan kepada golongan di atas

Siapa yg tidak digalakkan menderma?

1. Menghidapi penyakit-penyakit seperti :
   • Sifilis
   • Malaria
   • Sakit jantung
2. Sedang dirawati untuk apa-apa penyakit
3. Telah menjalani pembedahan < 6 bulan sebelum hari menderma
4. Ibu yang sedang mengandung atau menyusukan anak
5. Bertujuan hanya untuk menguji darah sahaja

Keistimewaan mengikut kekerapan menderma:

[W] Derma Darah: Hampir Blackout.. huhu~

termasuk hari ni, baru 2 kali aku derma darah kat tempat kerja aku, PNMB. walaupun dari zaman belajar dulu dah terasa nk derma, tp lepas masuk kerja kat company ni tahun lepas, baru tergerak kaki nk pegi daftar, hehe..

memula kena isi borang, lepas tu tunggu giliran utk check darah (yg cucuk kat ujung jari tu), berat badan, blood pressure, interterview sket.. dah lulus semua, barulah bole tunggu giliran utk dermakan darah kite. kalau belum ada ‘buku akaun’ yg merah tu, time ni la dia akan bagi. kali ni doc kate aku bole derma 450ml (1 pint +-), last time pun same.

staf yang bermurah hati punya la ramai, so aku tunggu kat dalam opis je, dah kol 4.30 baru pegi tunggu giliran kat kantin (tempat derma darah). rupenye aku org last yg masuk bilik menderma tu, huhu..

[E] What makes them different

I am undergoing a 6-week training and this week is the soft-skills-courses-week. The two different courses were conducted by private organizations, both are Language Works and Learning Edge Consultant.

Language Works provides our English Edge courses. The courses were delivered in a very interesting ways, yet effective. One of the trainers is Mr. Brian Cracknell, a British man who has lived in Malaysia for 26 years. He is a very strict trainer, really STRICT one. He corrected our pronunciations, annunciations and even scold us for misspelled words! Yet, a very funny person too. Believe it or not, he is the Director of Language Works.

Learning Edge Consultant provides the Consulting Skills courses. The trainer, Mr Perthpal delivered the courses very effectively. He has this persona/charisma that makes all of us keep staring at him and listening to every single word he said. Believe it or not, he is the founder/CEO of Learning Edge Consultant.

If I am the CEO of my own company, I will not bother to work. I rather sit at the office and send some other trainers to do the works. I believe, many of us Malays has this attitude. The boss doesn’t have to work.

But what makes these two CEOs different from me? This difference is the main reason why I am not the CEO of my company. I am MALAS.

[E] Energetic

The first week of my training starts with introductions to Functional Modules of SAP. It was damn boring~

The second week will be full of soft skill courses. It started off with the English Edge classes on Monday and Tuesday. We learned basic communication skills.. listening skills, how to communicate over the phone, how to handle conference calls, email etiquettes and  presentation skills. Personally, I gained a lot of knowledge from this course though I already attended one back in Infosys.

And today, we learned Consulting Skills. We met Perthpal, the instructor for today’s session. Perthpal mention this quote,

“Knowledge is the potential power, but doing it is the real power.”

This explains, if you know but you don’t do it.. it’s the same like you don’t know it.

[E] Infy vs Axon

The title should be: Training in Infy VS Training in Axon

The Environment

• in Infy Mysore, the Global Education Center (GEC) is the building where all trainees are gathered in big scale classes. It is built with ‘air terjun’, which we can hear the sound of water flowing down along the main stairs. I miss the sound and.. the smell too.
• in Enterprise 4, (where Axon training room is situated) I can hear the same water-flowing-down-along-the-stairs sound, and it smells just like when I was in Infy Mysore ^__^. Just that the training room is only a small room with 15-20 trainees can fit it at a time. It’s better. The lesser, the closer we’ll be.

The Pantry

• in Infy Mysore, we can get our daily dose of coffee for free from the dispenser outside the class. Remember the tea? It tastes funny, they added ‘buah pelaga’ in the tea. -___-!
• in Axon, we can get our coffee, milo and tea for free from the same-looking dispenser. The tea is much better, no ‘buah pelaga’ added ^__^ The pantry is provided with basic needs, like my dream kitchen! The red & black kitchen cabinet with double-sinks, and everything that you’ll need to make your drinks. Nothing to brag about, the pantry is not mine and I am not going to work in the pantry anyway -___-

The Trainers

• in Infy, the trainers always RECAP everything they thought for that session.
• in Axon, I assume that they forget to recap. so i forget the whole session points.

ps: it is actually a little bit early for me to make the comparisons between these two companies, coz i have just been here in Axon for only a week -___-!

[E] Junctions

Imagine, we are walking on a straight road. We have to choose every time there are options, let say the junctions.

To do or not to do. To go left or to go right. To change or not to change. We hesitated. We want to make things right.

But along the way, we’ll meet other people. People say,

“Hey, if you take the left turn you’ll find a long, winding road. You won’t be safe there. There are wolves and bad people everywhere too. You’ll find yourself in trouble if you take that road.”

“Better take the right turn. It’s easier. There are food stalls along the road too. The people there are nice. Here, I’ll give you extra money so that you can buy food if you feel hungry. Just don’t turn left.”

I faced the same situation when I was about to change job. In my case, i chose to take the left turn. Yes, the road which most people told me not to take.

I hope I made the right choice. Maybe five years from now, I’ll look back and say,

“Thank God I took the left turn.” and continue my journey with a big smile.

or maybe I’ll regret and say, “I wish I could have chosen the right turn.”

Nobody knows what’ll happen in the future. Let’s pray that the choice which we’ve made lead us to a better life. Amin.
